When throngs of Egyptians gathered in Tahrir Square to demand the fall of Hosni Mubarak’s regime, Ahdaf Soueif—author, journalist, lifelong progressive—was among them. Now, in this deeply personal work, Soueif summons her storytelling talents to trace her city’s—and nation’s—ongoing transformation. She writes of the youth who led the revolts, and of the jubilation in the streets at Mubarak’s departure. We then watch as Egyptians fight for democracy, as the interim military government throws up obstacles at every step, and as an Islamist is voted into power. Against this stormy backdrop, Soueif casts memories of her own Cairo—the open-air cinema; her family’s land, in sight of the pyramids—and affirms the beauty of this ancient city. Soueif's postscript considers Egypt’s more recent turns in its difficult but deeply inspiring path toward its great human aims.
Many self-help books I've found at Amazon read like they were written by twelve year olds. While much of the story is triumphant, I was struck by the somber notes of family discord. I'd buy 10 volumes if they came out.. Long and happy marriage to Nell, his beloved wife.
6. The story plot was nice but the beginning was kinda of confusion. The way it presented POOR DANNY as a victim of child abuse and the whole world in on the act sickens me. She holds a doctorate in herbal medicine and has often worked with various EU legislatures to insure the safety and effectiveness of herbal medicines. The most impressive thing on Freud's art is definitely the awesome technique he developed. Colin McGinn may be "famous" but he's not too famous outside of academia. I still admire her as she left a fantastic legacy of enjoyable films. He embarks on a journey to escape the gruesome hand of Fate, a menacing and pervasive voice that resonates throughout the text, and find himself among the company o
