In war, no life is left untouched. In war, lives are shattered.
As the reader, you can feel each characters emotions throughout the book. It's just unfortunate that we don't seem to have politicians with as much guts in real life as some of those portrayed in Flynn's book.. There are more 500 and 600 level problems than there are 700 level problems.
I have two suggestions:
1) It might be worthwhile just purchasing the Sackmann extreme challenge set (I believe the author offers it as a PDF file on his website). It provides a view into the challenges of reforming an economy that has forgotten the proper way to do anything. Reacher and his travel mates spend way, way, way to much time in the car. Almost all stories are set in Japan and are flavored with Japanese words and phrases that would be fun to add to our vocabularies. On the Kindle there is a linked index so easy to get to whichever of the 19 chapters you want. I didn't like The Affair, and gave him a pass on it. The book was in very good condition--new and very nice. No e
